Pure Bliss Desserts is a thriving scratch bakery in Bellingham, WA offering a unique experience by serving perfectly paired coffee, tea, beer and wine to complement its veritable dessert offerings. Owners, Nick and Andrea Vann, found themselves in a precarious position when their leased location listed for sale, placing their business in jeopardy along with its 20 employees.

Through the SBA 504 program and NWBDA, they purchased the building with just 10% down. The SBA program conserved valuable working capital and gave them the opportunity to expand within the building to fulfill catering/wedding orders – a potential growth area previously hampered by lack of space.

This expansion created four new jobs in the community and retained 20. With their long-term occupancy now stable, Nick and Andrea can get back to the heart of their family-owned business.
“We were able to double the size of our shop, grow our customer base, double our team and increase efficiencies in a million different ways within our business. Besides actually receiving the loan and being able to use our funds to make our dream come true, Elizabeth was the absolute BEST part of working with the NWBDA.”
